Impressed current cathodic protection with titanium mesh and ribbon (ICCP). Impressed current cathodic protection uses an anode and a power source to create a potential difference. Titanium is a highly durable anode material. It is virtually insensitive to corrosion and is almost always in a passivated state. To make it easier to deliver current to the concrete and to let the anodic reactions proceed faster, the titanium is given a thin layer of platinum-group metal oxides (platinum, palladium, rhodium, etc.). Titanium with such a layer is called activated titanium.
